We tend to see the present as the logical outcome of the past. In Indonesia’s present only the nationalist heroes of the struggle for independence are generally believed to be crucial: Soekarno, Hatta, Nasution or Sjahrir . Others have been forgotten or are being overlooked because their contribution proved ultimately to have been a [...] December is the month of surprises. And actually Indonesia got and gave fine surprises these days. Two of them lifted my mood significantly. The Republik Maluku [...] Soon the Netherlands will host president Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. While he stays in the low countries he will sign a comprehensive partnership between both countries.
