Yesterday Kosovo declared it’s independence. SBY once more stated officials should not discriminate against Chinese Indonesians. But I can’t waste my time on petty issues like these today.
More important events have been taken place here. Bali has been giving birth to my granddaughter yesterday. So she’s a Sunday’s child, whose name is Devica Esha - which means “little goddess of desire”. And of course she is, ex aequo, the smartest en most beautiful baby of the EU.
Well, maybe not only of the EU, when I think of it. I’ve meticulously been counting here genes: 62,5% Indonesian and only 37,5% European. So she is in competition over there also.

Congratulations to the proud parents, and grandparents. Also, my best wishes to uncle and aunts.
By the way, are uncle and aunt already so delighted that they desire a small goddess of their own?
I want to refer to the aunt’s website for a gorgeous picture.
Colson … congratulations for the birth of your Eurasian granddaughter Devica Esha! Does the 62,5 % come from your side of family tree?
Congratulation! I couldn’t be happier for you.
She must be so cute and would be exceptionally bright – just like the parents and the grandparents.
didn’t know that you had a blog mr.colson and didn’t know that there are some Indonesians inside your family, haha. congratulations then, I’m happy for you.
Congrats!
When she’s bigger and ask you, “What nationality am I, grandpa?” what will u say?
I posted a comment yesterday, but am apparently banned (am I so boring?)
Isn’t she gemes? (I hope I paid decent attention to the discussions here, and have not insulted anyone)
Congratulations to the grandparents, the parents, uncle, and aunts. Do ibu and pak Sumatra already feel the urge to contribute to the world population?
@Gerwin
Sorry! Our SPAM control kicked in.
on behalf of tante en oom sumatera to gerwin…we are definitely inspired with devica (with k and not c) however we decide to give the grandparents all the time they need to enjoy their first granddaughter at least a year before the opportunity for the second one ariseeee
Everybody happy? We are!
@ Gerwin: Glad you’ve found time to pay us a visit – i may add, on behalf of Babes also, we would like it if you showed up in person ( or even better: persons) in a not too far away future.
@santi d: Thanks. And no, I’m afraid I’m the last living all Caucasian pelopor. The young mother and my wife, one of the two grand mothers, provide the 62,5 %.
@andie summerkiss: Thanks also! I would wish you were right about the grandparents- but I agree with you on the father and mother.
@yuki tobing: It’s not really my blog – I’m merely tolerated by Bonnie and Pelopor. Maybe because I’m their next of kin.
@therry: Difficult question. As for me in due time she can choose any nationality she wants. For the time being she is Dutch. But will be raised bilingual.
Congratulations grandpa Colson. De mooiste baby in the whole Europe and Asia indeed. Being more than 50% Indonesian, my prayers are with her so that she won’t speak Bahasa like that of Chwincha Lowrah (ask Bonnie & Ingmar for details).
And please, when she grows up beautiful like most Indo/blasteran (Eurasian) girls… don’t let her cast for any of those Indonesian telenovela… make her run for president or the social welfare minister or the anti flood minister instead… that will definitely confirms beauty and brain do mix
van harte gefeliciteerd!
Oh, I forget… Bonnie and Ingmar… I expect other Eurasian babies from you guys… make sure they’re cute and chubby like their parents hahahah!
(and Ingmar, teach them bahasa Minang will you? I can help!)
Colson, I just watched the video. Devica is beautiful and those cheeks are so inviting for gemes moms to pinch. Although actually my own daughter was born only 10 months ago, it’s so wonderful to look at a newborn … TFS.
Wow…what a cute little baby … It is very “lucu” and “gemesin” dech…because her cheeks are chubby chubby
Congratulations to all the family, the grandparents, the parents, the Oom and Tante …Bonnie and Ingmar …looking forward to welcoming yours within 1 year from now ?hmmm you have to start the process now then … all the best!!
Wow congratulations Colson…
I bet she will grow beautifully, and she can be my talent 1 year from now
Bonnie, Pelopor, I guess I knew about this, but just wanted to tease you. You know, I will be moving close to you somewhere in this summer season (I hope), so I will sit on your baby with all the love that is in me. In the meantime, what about organizing a social with banyak makan and pak Colson dan ibu Babes present (and lots of videos featuring the small goddess).
Oh my! Congratulations!!!! what a sweet baby
I love her name..
Colson, congrats one million times for the birth of your pretty granddaughter.
woow.. gefeliciteerd, colson!
send my regards to your daughter as well.
i hope i can visit you guys someday..
Hi Colson, congratulations for Devica’s parents and you, of course. What a cute baby.
Thanks for visiting my blog anyway.
A week on, and Devica is doing fine and growing more beautiful by the day.
@sushihunt: Thank you. And i second your opinion wholeheartedly: now it’s Bonnie’s and Ingmar’s turn.
And no: Devica’s parents do intend to have her exploiting her brains and not her beauty.
@santi d.: Well, I would like to gently pinch the cheeks of your baby – although I’m afraid the authentic “being gemes” is not for a white guy.
@hisma: Of course I totally agree with you. She is cute. And I really back up your encouragement to my other mixed couple.
@gerwin: Welcome and splendid idea!
@sandi: “Devica Esha” really is sweet, isn’t?(By the way: the working title during pregnancy was “Swaantje” – which I think would have been great as well).
@jennie: Thanks – a million times. And I can’t but agree: she’s pretty. Which is a miracle, considering she needed a lot of compensation for my shot of genes.
@aaq: Dank je wel. Yes, I’ll tell them about your wishes. And as for a visit: speaking for myself: you’re very welcome.
@devi girsang: Thanks so much. Btw: you got a great blog.
Congratulations! Gefeliciteerd! Selamat, Colson…
))
I am so happy for you…. and though I shouldn’t be proud…. I am kinda proud that she is 62.5% Indonesian!!! wow!!! really cool
welcome to the world, Devica Esha! what a lovely name you have…
tante mer cannot wait to have some discussions with you! btw, you are so lucky to have Colson as your opa and your friend!
colson..i was actually merinding when i say the cue litle hands..subhanallah..
i want baby tooo…
congratulations!!!
i can imagine how excited you are..
@mer: Thanks! I told her -of course I assume she’s so intelligent we can have conversations – of your comment and she really smiled very satisfied with the news, when I mentioned “aunt mer”.
@mulia: Thank you! I can understand that wish. But I have to warn you: being father or mother means a lot of hard work and no sleep to speak of. The bless of a new born is for grandfathers ( and grandmothers) only, is’t it?
The bless of a new born is for grandfathers ( and grandmothers) only, is’t it?
Indeed, and the work of parents are made even harder when the grandpa/grandma are spoiling their kids, and help the kids break their parents rules, ha ha ha
My parents are doing that to us now
and I’m enjoying every bit of it.
Congratulations on your new bundle of joy Mr Colson !
@sufehmi: Thanks, Sufehmi. Right, it’s quite like you wrote in your blog: becoming a parent means you get overwhelmed by the tremendous responsibility for this new life. That’s great but also scary sometimes.
Becoming a grandparent means that there is a new life at the center of your emotional world also, but by far more relaxed. In the current division of labor as I see it, it’s up to my son and daughter in law to plan, care and discipline on behalf of the newborn, and to us, the grandparents, to attend to the development of the anarchistic streak in my grandchild’s genes.
Something you recognize in your own situation, I suppose.

Hahaha… indeed I do
Anyway, we’re very thankful that my (and my wife) parents are still alive and our kids are able to enjoy life with them. I missed the grandpa from my father and there’s something always missing deep in my heart.
Again, congratulations, and enjoy these most precious moments.
Hi Grandpa Colson, congrats for the new member of the family! The whole universe *hehehe* is waiting for the other couple *youknowwho* now… CHAYYOOOOOO !!!
@d3d3k: Thank YOU! And I will reveal a secret here: Devica Esha is growing in weight, length and beauty by the day. She is a gem.
As for the other couple: I love them as they are. Having children is not a test for a meaningful life at all. But I gladly confess I love babies. Well, and I can not deny to be part of the universe, can I?
But I gladly confess I love babies
How many are you wishing for ?
Personally I wish to have 11 of them
but 4 biological children is enough, hopefully the next 7 will be from adoption, fingers crossed.
Kids are so magical.
